PRODUCT QUESTIONS
Where are your candles made?
Our candles are made in our home office located in Sydney. Being hand poured in small batches allows us to ensure only the highest quality candle is delivered to you.
Why are your Sculpture Collection candles made with palm wax?
It is no secret that palm wax and palm oil has been getting a bad wrap lately. Mainly because of the cultivation of palm trees in their natural settings. We are commited to protecting the environment just as much as we are to protecting your health.
We use Palm Wax because of its natural origin, being plant based palm wax has no nasty hidden chemicals that are released into the air when you burn your candle that are found in other wax types such as parrafin.
Our wax supplier only provides palm wax that is ethically sourced by manufacturers who are members of the Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). This organisation is committed to responsible and sustainable use of natural resources. All raw materials are procured from sustainable plantations.
For our Sculpture Collection we found that Palm Wax was not only the strongest and most durable, but also holds its scent stronger and longer than that of soy wax. Being a sculpture only allows us to put in a certain percentage of frangrance before the integrity of the structure becomes compromised. Not to mention the added bonus of the incredible unique icicle pattern that is displayed on each candle as a result.
Why does my Signature Candle have black residue on the jar?
It is so important to trim your wick down to 5mm before each lighting of your candle, failure to do this can result in a black soot like residue on the inside of your candle. One of the main causes of a candle creating soot is the flame being too big, a big flame is a result of a wick that is too long, this is why we place so much emphasis on trimming your wick before each use. The most common way to trim your wick is using a wick trimmer. If you don't have one on hand you can use regular scissors or even your fingernails to pinch and break off the top black part of your wick.
What are the different wicks you use?
We use two different types of wicks for our candles. Our Signature and Sculpture Collection are made with 100% lead-free australian cotton, manufactured in Australia. Our Coconut Collection uses wood wicks, made from native, sappy fruit trees, sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified mills throughout the USA.
Are your products Vegan?
They sure are! Not all candles are vegan, some use extra additives like beeswax and animal fats to harden the wax. We only use premium soy wax, cocosoy wax and palm wax. Our wicks are 100% cotton and wooden. Our scents come from vegan fragrance oils.
Are your candles eco-friendly?
Absolutely! Creating eco-friendly candles has been really important to us which is why we only use natural and responsibly sourced waxes and pure natural wicks to provide a clean burn.
What is the best way to store my candle?
We recommend storing your candles in a cool dry place. If you leave your candle near heat or near direct sunlight, the heat may cause the wax to become mishapen or in some cases melt.
Why are some of my uncoloured candles different shades?
Some fragrance oils contain Vanillin as a constituent even if Vanilla itself does not appear in the name of the fragrance. Vanillin is the main chemical compound of the extract of the vanilla bean, as such it takes on some of the dark colouring of a vanilla bean. When exposed to air and light, vanillin can oxidise and start to brown. The amount of Vanillin in a fragrance can have an impact on the natural colouring of a candle due to this reason, which is why you will find candles such as ones fragranced with our Coconut and Lime, can have a lighter appearance than that of the Caramel Fudge.
